“The Future Is Built By Those With The Courage To Dream And To Act.”

Last week our son Thomas graduated from University.

Well technically he attended his graduation ceremony. Thomas finished his degree and received his degree in 2020, but because of the COVID pandemic, he never got around to officially “graduating” until now

And how proud we all were to watch him walk across the stage and receive his recognition.

After all the graduates had been presented with their degrees, there was a short Occasional Address given by Mr Kanishka Mohaia, a graduate from this same university with a BE in Mechatronic Engineering.

Mr Mohaia urged the graduates to look at this day as part of a definite career of continuing to keep learning, rather than being a celebration of the completion of their learning.

One of the things that Mr Mohaia said towards the completion of his address was this:

“The future is built by those with the courage to dream and to act.”

These are very prophetic words.

Plenty of people go through their lives never dreaming of anything at all.

Can you imagine what the world would have been like, if nobody had dreamed of flight, of sailing, of phone communication, or of space travel…

What a boring old world we would have been living in.

But not only were these concepts dreamt of, they were created by people acting upon those dreams and turning them from fantasy to reality….

A dream without action is but a fantasy.

It is those dreams that are acted upon that create visible positive results that are of true benefit for our society and for its positive progression.

Some people never dream.

Some of these people who never dream are more than happy to see society progress as a result of others building on dreams.

Dreams, and imagination and creation are essential for creativity to flourish.

But dreams need action.

Dreams without action are at worst noise, and are at best only semantics.

For society to evolve, we must maintain action.

Otherwise our dreams are of no use and serve no purpose.

The world needs more action takers…
